You can't find that handwritten memo from the CEO(chief executive officer), and your boss is about to explode. He's standing over your desk, watching as you search and destroy your office. Don't flip out ; follow these steps:

Compose yourself Take a deep breath. Try to smile; you want to radiate confidence. Shoo your boss away It's impossible to think with someone breathing down your neck. Politely say, "I know how important this document is. If you'll excuse me for a couple of minutes, I'll get it right to you." If your boss insists on remaining, nicely say, "I know I had it, but I really need a moment alone to think." Concentrate When you're anxious , your eyes look without seeing. Ask yourself where you would have put it and where you last saw it. Did anyone borrow it or make a copy? Search methodically No luck? Better look everywhere. Slowly make your way through your office, placing each pile of papers on your desk and turning each page over. Report back Don't keep your boss waiting more than 15 minutes; update him about where you've checked and where you'll look next. If it can't wait, ask if you can help him reconstruct the document. Finally, offer a sincere apology.
