利用英语新教材进行基础年级写作教学

内容提要:"新课标"明确指出,高中生在写作方面应该具有"观察,记忆,思维,想象能力和创新能力".这种采用课文内容让学生进行提炼,处理,发挥创造性,加工成一篇有实用性的作文的训练方法,是本人在基础年级写作教学中常采用的,实践证明切实可行.特别是新课标下的新教材中阅读材料多,话题广,贴近生活实际,加以利用可以得到事半功倍的效果.而且,最关键的是切合本校学生实际水平.

    步骤1. Fast reading: Underline the main places of Toronto mentioned in the text.

    步骤2. Careful reading and answering some questions

    *Read Para. 1-4 and answer the following questions:

    1) What can be seen from CN Tower in Toronto?

    2) Where does the water from the lake flow?

    3) Why is there good Cantonese food in Toronto?

    *Read Para.5 and chose the correct answers:

    4) When did they arrive in Montreal?    ( C )

    A. in the next morning  B. at noon   C. at dawn the next morning D. at night

    5)Which of the following things doesn't show us that Montreal is a French city? ( B )

    A. People speak French

    B. The lovely shops in downtown

    C. Signs in French

    D. Ads in French

    6) Which of the following is correct about Montreal?  ( D )

    A. Montreal is close to the water

    B. Montreal is a city with wonderful restaurants and clubs.

    C. People in Montreal speak both English and French

    D. All of the above.

    步骤3. Summary of reading

    Keys words:

    maple trees, frost, arrive, wealthy, biggest ,CN Tower, misty cloud, the great Niagara Falls ,at dawn , Montreal, French-speaking

    Summary: Li and Liu saw the red maple trees and frost on the ground. They knew fall had arrived in Canada.They know Toronto is the most wealthy and biggest city in Canada. There they went up the top of CN Tower. On the top of it , they saw misty cloud that rose from the Great Niagara Falls. At dawn, they arrived in Montreal. They found Montreal is a city with wonderful restaurants and clubs and it is a French-speaking city.

    此处步骤1利用课文中的内容,让学生找出课文讲述多伦多的多处景点,此处是为写作积累材料,针对学生对多伦多了解甚少的情况,这一环节必不可少。步骤2则让学生对reading部分有更进一层的理解,从中可以找到写作中可用到的词汇,句子。步骤3的设计意图是教师作为引路人,让学生通过关键词回忆课文,一方面对课文重新熟悉,而另一方面是为写作埋伏笔,因为串词成句是作文的基础阶段,也是本校学生的弱项。

    反思:从课文已有的知识出发,用泛读的教学方式最大限度地帮助学生发掘写作所需的材料,这是基于此篇写作的内容,以及本地学生对多伦多了解甚少的实际出发的。可以说此部分的设计有一箭双雕的妙用。既训练了泛读技能,又培养学生抓住关键词的能力,还能引导学生串词成句,口头作文,为下面的作文教学做好充分的铺垫。

    Step5: Pre-writing

    写作要求:写一篇旅游报道,描述在多伦多的见闻。

    (1) the tips of reading a traveling report

    l  a title

    l  a short paragraph to introduce the topic of your report

    l  a different paragraph for each new piece of information or new place.

    l  a short conclusion

    (此表呈现给学生,并利用多媒体课件,设置超级连接,与下面的写作相联系)

    (2) Warming up of writing

    Translate some important sentences:

    A: 乘火车从西到东穿越加拿大。

    Travel across Canada by train from west to east.

    B: 多伦多是加拿大最富最大的城市

    Toronto is the most wealthy and biggest city in Canada.
