     We are attempting Research-oriented Learning in order to challenge the traditional teacher-centered teaching method, where teachers do all talking while students do nothing but listen. On top of being boring and inefficient, this method leads to a loss of creativity in us.

     Research-oriented Learning usually consists of four steps. First, set up research groups and determine a research project, which is connected with what we are s tudying. Second, collect and refer to relevant materials and data. Third, discuss in groups and everyone expresses their opinions to the full. Finally, exchange our reports about the project in class.

     Research-oriented Learning has brought fresh air into our classrooms. It has motivated every student greatly, and helps to develop our critical thinking and competence in innovation.

In addition, too many trees have been cut down, so forest cove rage has been decreasing rapidly. What's more, some water conservation projects haven't been functioning properly, thus people there have had to rely more heavily on rainfall for their water supply. Most of China's irrigation systems are very old.

 In order to prevent this cas e coming about again, we should improve our awareness of saving water, makin g proper use of water and recycling water. Meanwhile, we ought to plant more trees and protect environment to prevent loss of water and soil erosion. Of course, the governments should increase investment and repair water conservation pro jects as timely as possible.

       The over exploitation of World Heritage sites has raised public concern. As is shown in the cartoon, the World Heritage sites are overcrowded with large groups of tourists pushing, taking photos, or even spitting, smoking and scribbling everywhere, which has caused great damage to these historic buildings.

       One of the contributing factors of this phenomenon is that the local government is pushing too hard for the development of tourism, ignoring damage prevention and educational function of the sites. Moreover, some self-centered tourists are uncivilized in public places, ignorant of the historical and cultural value of the sites.

       From my point of view, the original purpose of setting up World Heritage sites is to help preserve history so that people will be able to enjoy it for generations to come. I suggest both the government and the public should be aware that the best form of conservation is the prevention of damage and committees should be established to undertake important educational work.
